Forty-eight one-bedroom suites of about seventy square metres each, with an equipped kitchenette, in villa-style cottages with private parking. That is the All Seasons Resort Europa, at Sunset Crest on the west coast, in Holetown.

Put plainly: it is a holiday apartment with hotel services. You get space, a real bedroom separate from the living room, somewhere to cook, a spot for your rental car, a pool, a restaurant on site and a free shuttle running every few minutes to the beach and the shops.

For a family, for a couple staying two weeks, for anyone who hates living in a hotel room, that format beats a standard resort room. The property's family promotion, running 15 April to 15 December 2026, has children stay free.

One thing we correct at the outset: some promotional copy suggests the beach is a few steps away. Traveller reviews describe ten to fifteen minutes on foot. Forty-eight suites, and why the format changes everything

The property has 48 one-bedroom suites, each around seventy square metres, in Standard and Deluxe categories, in villa-style cottages with private parking.

Seventy square metres is more than double an ordinary hotel room. In practice that means a closed bedroom on one side and a living room on the other, which solves the classic problem of the parent who wants to read while the child sleeps. It also means an equipped kitchenette, storage, room for open suitcases, and parking at your door.

Over a two-week stay, the difference between a room and a suite makes itself felt by the third day. Over seven nights with children, it makes itself felt the first evening.

The kitchenette has a direct financial effect. The Massy supermarkets and the shops of Sunset Crest are reachable by the free shuttle. Handling breakfasts and two or three dinners in the week frees money for what matters: a catamaran trip, a day at Bathsheba, a fish dinner at Oistins.

The beach: the truth about the distance

Better settled straight away.

The official site uses wording suggesting the beach is a few steps away. Travellers consistently describe a ten to fifteen minute walk to Holetown beach. That is not the same thing, and we will not repeat the promotional phrasing.

The solution exists and it works: a free shuttle serves the beach and the shops, at a frequency the national tourism authority describes as every few minutes. A rental car also settles the question, and the suite's private parking then earns its keep.

As for the beach itself, at Holetown, it is lovely and public as every Barbadian beach is. No review consulted reports erosion, rocky bottom or sargassum build-up there. One detail travellers mention is worth passing on: the loungers are chained in place, so they cannot be turned to follow the sun. A minor annoyance, but the kind of thing you would rather know.

A renovation, and what to make of it

A complete renovation of the property was finished in July 2023.

That date deserves writing as it stands, because several commercial listings still describe the renovation as recent. Three years, in a Caribbean climate, is neither new nor old. The suites were redone, the property is in good condition, and nobody should expect factory fresh.

The main complaint travellers made in 2026 concerns the air conditioning, judged inadequate by some. In a seventy square metre suite, a single unit cools two rooms poorly. Ask in advance for a unit whose air conditioning has been checked, and report any problem on day one rather than at check-out.

Dining: Asian Spice and the poolside

The property's restaurant is Asian Spice, Indian cooking, evening service. It is closed on Mondays. Note that, because a family arriving on a Sunday evening finds no table on site the next day.

Poolside dining completes the offer, with an international menu, comfort food and local dishes. The pool bar opens late morning, around 11 a.m., rather than at 10 as some guests hoped.

There is no all-inclusive here. The suites are sold self-catering, with a kitchenette, and the restaurant is paid à la carte. That fits the nature of the place: you cook when you like, go out when you like, and Holetown has dozens of tables minutes away.

That is exactly where Sunset Crest becomes interesting. The area gathers shops, restaurants, a supermarket and services, and Holetown, with its marina, boutiques and seaside restaurants, is right there.

Pool and facilities

One freshwater pool on site, with its terrace. The property is small, the pool is shared among forty-eight suites, and the atmosphere stays calm.

No water sports are offered on site, which follows from having no beachfront. Sea outings are booked in Holetown, minutes away, where catamaran, diving and watersports operators are plentiful. Our advisor can prepare a list before you leave.

Travellers also note limited entertainment outside restaurant hours. This is not a resort with a show every night, and it does not pretend to be.

Families: children stay free

Unlike several west coast properties, the All Seasons Resort Europa welcomes families and sets no minimum age.

A promotion running 15 April to 15 December 2026 has children stay free. The exact conditions, number of children, age limit, suite category, need confirming for your dates, and our advisor does that before any deposit.

The suite format is itself this hotel's best family argument: a separate bedroom, a living room, a kitchenette for bottles, snacks and fussy eaters, and a parking space. Few resorts offer that at the same budget.

What travellers say

The rating is 4.1 out of 5 across more than 600 reviews. The property was also named Barbados hotel of the year in its category and sits in the hall of fame of a major review platform.

What guests like: the space in the suites, the quiet, the kitchenette, the value and the Sunset Crest position.

What they hold against it, and the list is short and precise: the pool bar opening late, the restaurant closed on Mondays, air conditioning judged weak by some in 2026, and the distance to the beach and to town.

None of those complaints concerns cleanliness, safety or the welcome. They are matters of convenience, and most are solved by knowing what to expect. That is exactly what this page is for.

Location and getting around

The property is on Palm Avenue, at Sunset Crest, in St James parish, 19.3 kilometres from Grantley Adams International Airport and 8.4 kilometres from Bridgetown according to the Barbados tourism authority.

Holetown, next door, is the best base on the west coast. It is where the first English settlers landed in 1627. The village has kept its scale, with St James Church, one of the oldest on the island, a marina, boutiques and seaside restaurants.

From Montreal, Barbados is reachable non-stop in high season and with one connection the rest of the year. Your advisor will confirm what applies to your dates.

On the island, the free shuttle covers most daily needs. A rental car opens up the whole island, with the private parking included with the suite. It requires a temporary local permit issued on presentation of your licence, and driving is on the left.

When to go, sargassum and weather

December to May, the dry season delivers days around 28 to 30 degrees, comfortable nights and a steady trade wind. That is high season on the west coast.

June to November, heat and humidity climb and hurricane season is open. Barbados, at the eastern edge of the Antillean arc, often sits off the main tracks, which is a tendency and never a guarantee. It is also the period of the family promotion.

On sargassum, the winter window from December to February remains the best, without being a guarantee. 2026 ranked second all-time for landed volumes across the region, and part of the 2025 residue survived offshore as seed stock.
