SH Minerva, delivered in 2021, SH Vega in 2022 and SH Diana in 2023, all three built at the Helsinki yard. It is a British expedition company whose voyages go back to the 1950s, relaunched with that order of three new ships.

Three and a half years alongside

SH Minerva lay idle at Fray Bentos, in Uruguay, from spring 2022 to July 2025, because of sanctions against her lessor. She returned to service in November 2025. A ship delivered in 2021 spending three and a half years at a quay is worth saying.

The figure nearly every source gets backwards

In the Polar Code, class PC 1 is the strongest and PC 7 the weakest. SH Diana is rated PC 6, her two elders PC 5: she is therefore less strengthened than they are, although she is larger and newer. If ice matters to you, that is the figure to look at, and it must be read the right way round.
