The fleet is four sister ships, so the choice is not the ship but the itinerary and the date. The number of Azamara cruises currently on sale is shown at the top of this page. Azamara Journey, Azamara Pursuit, Azamara Onward and Azamara Quest share the calendar very evenly: none of them is the flagship you would have to hold out for.

Twice as many routes as departures

Azamara is among the lines whose itineraries repeat least from one season to the next, and that is exactly what it sells: long calls, overnights in port, routes that do not repeat from one season to the next. Here, the number of ships tells you nothing about the choice on offer. One point of honesty in return: the line claims to offer more time ashore than anyone, without publishing either an average time in port or any figures to compare. We do not take that comparison as our own — check the exact itinerary.

Who owns the line, and since when

A New York private equity fund, since 19 March 2021. It previously belonged to Royal Caribbean Group. The same fund bought Margaritaville at Sea in late 2023: two brands in our catalogue, one owner, at opposite ends of the market. For a guest booking two years ahead, knowing who holds the till is not backstage trivia.

Four former Renaissance ships

The ships are twenty-five to twenty-seven years old. All four were built at Saint-Nazaire between 1999 and 2001 for Renaissance, then passed through three or four owners each — Azamara Onward is the former Pacific Princess. They carry fewer than seven hundred guests, and that is precisely the argument: they enter where large ships cannot. Two of them go into the yard, Quest from 18 December 2026 and Onward in 2027, to receive an extra deck of suites.

What is covered, and what is not

The line announces gratuities, a selection of spirits, beers and wines by the glass, self-service laundry and port shuttles. Wi-Fi is not covered. That is the exact opposite of Celebrity, which covers Wi-Fi and no longer gratuities: two brands from the same former group, two opposite logics. The complimentary cultural evenings still exist, but the ashore version is almost always reserved for cruises of nine nights or more; on seven and eight nights, the event is held on board.

What happened in 2023

In February of that year the line left its former group's IT systems for its own. The president at the time publicly acknowledged corrupted data, excursions vanishing from files and price changes on existing bookings. A new system was presented in October 2024. We found no source on the state of things in 2025 and 2026, so we will say neither that it is all settled nor the opposite: we say have in writing what your departure covers. That is a good reflex everywhere, and a necessary one here.

Azamara Journey has six accessible cabins out of three hundred and fifty-five, and four elevators. Six is very few. Add that the product multiplies small ports, and so tender landings. If a wheelchair is part of the file, book a year ahead and check the itinerary call by call.
