How many ships does Norwegian Cruise Line operate?

Do all the ships have departures?

Yes, every one. That is rare: on most fleets we carry, some ships hold no dates at all. Here, none.

Which ship is the busiest with you?

Norwegian Getaway leads our calendar, but the gap to the next ships is small. It is the most even spread in our whole catalogue: at other lines a single ship carries double the next.

What does an evenly spread fleet change?

It means the choice is made on destination and date rather than on a flagship. No ship concentrates the calendar, so none is the one you have to be aboard. It is easier to compare, and it saves you paying for a name.

What is Freestyle Cruising?

Norwegian's stance since 2000, introduced aboard Norwegian Sky: no fixed dining hour, no assigned table, no strict dress code, and you go ashore at your own pace. If you miss dinner at a set time and the gala evening, this is not the line for you — and that is a choice, not a shortfall.

Where does this line come from?

It was founded in 1966 by Norwegian Knut Kloster and Israeli Ted Arison, with a single ship, Sunward. It was then called Norwegian Caribbean Lines. It is based in Miami and has belonged to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings since the 2013 reorganisation.

What does the fare cover?

We will not say it in the line's place. What the fare covers changes here from one departure, market and cabin grade to the next, and we have not measured it departure by departure. Ask your advisor for the written list of the exact departure before booking, not after.

Can I book a Norwegian cruise that is not shown on this page?

Often, yes. Your advisor can look beyond what appears here. The online catalogue is a way in, not the limit of what exists.

Is service available in French?

It depends on the departure and the market, not on the line. If French matters to you, say so before booking: it is checked departure by departure.

Can two ships carry the same name?

Yes, and it happens often in this trade: a line reuses the name of a ship it sold for a new ship. That is why we keep pages online for ships that have left, with what became of them. Without those, a search leads to the wrong ship.

Should I book far ahead?

On small ships, yes: few cabins, and the best go early. On large ones it is the cabin's location rather than the space itself that is decided early. Talk cancellation terms through with your advisor before you decide.

Who protects me if my cruise is cancelled?

Your agency, and it alone. Voyages AquaTerra operates under a licence from Quebec's Office de la protection du consommateur, your payments pass through a trust account, and the compensation fund for travel agency clients covers your departure. That holds whichever line you choose.
