The beach: across the boulevard

Here is the point to know before booking, because several sites get it wrong. The resort sits on the inland side of J.E. Irausquin Boulevard. Reaching Eagle Beach takes three to five minutes on foot, crossing the street.

In exchange you gain real things: accommodation far larger than at front-row hotels, quieter rooms at night, and access to the same public, free beach as the resorts that line it. Eagle Beach regularly tops world rankings, and nobody owns a private stretch of it. If your ritual demands stepping out of the room and onto the sand in three paces, tell your advisor, because other addresses on the island answer that.

Which suite to choose

One-bedroom suites come as Premium King, Premium King Deluxe, Premium Double, Premium Double Deluxe and Premium Condo. Two-bedroom units add King, Condo and Penthouse formats. Three-bedroom units split between Condo and Penthouse, and suit larger groups.

Where you eat on site

The dining offering is deliberately simple, in keeping with a property where people cook in their suites. Double Down Sports Bar and Grill handles meals and the games, and Uncle Tony's Pizza covers the rushed evenings. A Baskin-Robbins counter, a Dunkin' Donuts and the Villa Market round things out, the last of these letting you shop without leaving the grounds.

Room service is available. Beyond that, Eagle Beach and Palm Beach line up dozens of restaurants a few minutes away, and the supermarkets of Oranjestad are a ten-minute drive. That is precisely how this address is designed to work.

Is it an all-inclusive?

No. The base rate covers the accommodation. The resort offers four optional meal plans: breakfast only, breakfast and lunch, breakfast and dinner, or all three meals. You pick the one that matches how you travel.

The pools, the waterslide and the spa

Three pools divide the grounds with distinct purposes: a waterfall pool, an adults-only pool with entertainment, and a family pool with a waterslide of about fifty metres. Two outdoor whirlpools complete the picture, along with a splash area for the youngest guests.

Vivant Spa handles massages and treatments, and the Many and Pady salon takes care of hair and beauty. A fitness centre, a beach tennis court and a ballroom seating two hundred fill out the facilities. A Caribbean cultural evening comes round each week.

Travelling with children

This is where the address makes the most sense. The waterslide, the splash area, the playground and the family pool fill the days. Two- and three-bedroom suites give everyone their own space, and the full kitchen settles the question of bottles, snacks and children who eat early.

Cribs and high chairs come at no charge, and babysitting can be booked on request. Children under twelve stay at no supplement within the suite's occupancy limits. Eagle Beach, opposite, offers calm water that shelves gently.

Who this resort suits

It fits large families and groups who want space, a kitchen and a price that accounts for the number of people. It fits travellers staying two weeks who refuse to eat in restaurants fourteen days running. It fits anyone who loves Eagle Beach and accepts crossing a street to reach it.

What to know before you book

The resort sits about nine kilometres from Queen Beatrix International Airport, roughly a ten-minute drive. Check-in is at four in the afternoon. Aruba lies outside the hurricane belt and the trade winds blow year-round: they hold the humidity down and mask how strong the sun is, so sunscreen goes on more often than you would think.
