Read this first: Pendry Barbados is not open. It is under construction, with opening announced for 2027.

The work is genuinely advancing. The topping-off ceremony took place on 23 April 2026, marking the placement of the final structural element. Finishing work follows, typically twelve to eighteen months.

This page exists to tell you where the project stands, what is confirmed, what is not, and above all where to stay on this coast in the meantime. We will let you know as soon as a firm opening date is announced.

Where to stay on the west coast right now

Let us start with the useful part, because it is probably what brought you here. The Pendry is going up on the northwest coast near Speightstown, and four addresses in that area welcome you today.

Saint Peter's Bay is the closest neighbour in spirit: fifty-seven villa-style oceanfront suites, all with full kitchens and private laundry, on a private beach of about one hundred and fifty metres. Some floors have a private elevator descending straight to the pool.

Port St Charles, just north of Speightstown, comes closest to what the Pendry promises: a gated community built around a deep-water marina, with two private beaches, a restaurant over the water and a free water taxi. Units belong to private owners and rent with full kitchens.

The Fairmont Royal Pavilion and the Colony Club cover the classic hotel register in the area, slightly further south.

What the project plans

Pendry Barbados will be the brand's first international property and its first in the Caribbean. Pendry is the upscale banner of Montage International.

The hotel announces eighty oceanfront rooms and suites, all facing the water, each with a private terrace or balcony, plus forty-six private residences of two to five bedrooms.

The most distinctive element is not the hotel itself but the one-hundred-and-ten-berth marina and its Pendry Yacht Club. The developer's communications are clear on this: dockside tables form the heart of the experience, with boats mooring within reach of the diners. Add an eight-room spa, a fitness centre, a Paintbox children's club and a dedicated events building.

Design comes from Robert Glazier and HKS for the architecture, Studio Munge for the interiors, and RH for those of the residences.

What we do not know yet

And we would rather say so than guess on your behalf.

No restaurant name has been announced, nor any cuisine type. The number of pools, the nature of the sand, sea conditions in front of the hotel, room sizes, the rate formula, fees and Wi-Fi: none of it is published. We will not invent it.

What we do know of the setting: the area sits on the Platinum Coast, the island's sheltered Caribbean face, known for fine white sand and calm, clear water. It is the best-protected coast in Barbados, and the one that receives the least sargassum.

A caution about dates

An article announcing an opening « by the end of 2026 » still circulates. That deadline has passed and was superseded by every brand communication in 2026, all of which say 2027.

We recommend planning no trip around that date until a firm opening is confirmed. A hotel that only completed its structure in spring 2026 rarely opens within months. We will update this page as soon as the date is known.

What is actually being sold on the project today

A useful clarification, because it explains why you will find commercial material online for a hotel that does not exist. What is currently marketed are the private residences and the marina berths, meaning real estate purchases. The hotel side is taking no reservations.

Who this address will suit

Based on what has been announced: boaters, couples and families seeking the upscale end on the sheltered coast, and those who prefer a human-scale hotel to a large resort. The presence of a children's club points to a family address rather than adults-only.
