Los Cabos on a direct flight from Montreal with Transat: ME Cabo Adults Only by Meliá

In short: Air Transat is adding Los Cabos to its winter schedule, with a direct Montreal–San José del Cabo flight every Thursday from December 10, 2026 to April 2027. To mark the launch, Transat is featuring ME Cabo Adults Only by Meliá, a hotel for guests 18 and over, set right on Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, facing the rocks of El Arco. The package includes three meals a day and drinks: it is a meal plan, not a traditional all-inclusive.

A new Transat destination for winter 2026-2027

On April 27, 2026, Air Transat announced three new sun destinations from Montreal: Aruba, Barbados and Los Cabos. The San José del Cabo flight leaves once a week, on Thursdays, starting December 10, 2026. Plan on about six hours in the air.

One departure a week means a limited number of seats. Christmas week and spring break go first. If your dates are fixed, book early.

Packages are sold by Transat Tours Canada inc., holder of a Québec permit. Flights are in Economy class, operated by Air Transat.

Why Los Cabos this winter?

Los Cabos is two towns at the tip of Baja California, linked by a 33 km coastal corridor. Cabo San Lucas comes alive at night around its marina. San José del Cabo is quieter, with art galleries and an old town centre. In between, the desert runs straight down to the sea.

Scenery that looks nothing like the Caribbean

This is where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. Giant cacti grow a few steps from the water, the cliffs are the colour of warm sand, and the sea shifts from turquoise to deep blue. At the very tip of the peninsula, El Arco, a rock arch carved by the waves, is the signature of the whole region.

A dry climate

From December to April, it barely rains. Days are warm, evenings cooler, and the humidity many travellers find hard in the Caribbean stays far away. For anyone who struggles with the heat in Punta Cana, it is often the big surprise of the trip.

Whales, as a bonus

The Transat flight season lines up exactly with whale season. From December to April, humpback and gray whales spend the winter in the waters off Los Cabos. You often see them from a boat, and sometimes right from the beach.

What to do between swims

  • A water taxi out to El Arco and Lover's Beach (Playa del Amor).
  • Snorkelling in the calm waters of the bay.
  • Golf on courses laid out between the desert and the ocean.
  • The art district of San José del Cabo, its galleries and terraces.
  • The Cabo San Lucas marina and its restaurants, in the evening.

Our Los Cabos travel guide explains which beaches are safe for swimming, and which to avoid.

ME Cabo Adults Only by Meliá, right in the action

ME Cabo welcomes adults 18 and over only. It sits directly on Médano Beach, the liveliest beach in Cabo San Lucas, with a view of the rocks of El Arco.

The location

Médano is one of the few large beaches in Los Cabos where you can swim in generally calm water, sheltered by the bay. Downtown and the marina are about one kilometre away, roughly fifteen minutes on foot. San José del Cabo airport is 40 to 45 minutes by road.

The ME by Meliá vibe

The ME brand is all about design, music and celebration. DJs by the pool, sunset cocktails, a swim-up bar: the hotel is built for adults who want energy. That is why people come here, and they know it when they book.

Three meals a day and drinks

With the Transat package, three daily meals and drinks are included. Keep the distinction in mind: this is a meal plan, not a traditional all-inclusive. Spa treatments, cabana rentals and some drinks may be extra. Your advisor confirms in writing what your package covers before you book.

The location works in your favour here too: the restaurants and bars of Cabo San Lucas are a few minutes' walk away whenever you feel like a change of table.

Rooms and suites

The contemporary rooms almost all have a terrace or balcony. Depending on the category, you can choose:

  • a room with direct pool access;
  • a beachfront junior suite with a private hot tub;
  • an ocean-facing suite with a terrace, for big occasions.

Pools and spa

Two pools, one with a swim-up bar, surrounded by Bali beds and cabanas: this is the social heart of the hotel. To unwind, the spa offers a full menu of treatments, and there is a fitness room on site. All the hotel details are on our ME Cabo hotel page.

Is ME Cabo right for you?

You will love it if:

  • you are travelling as a couple or with friends and enjoy music and a lively atmosphere;
  • you want to walk to the restaurants and the marina;
  • you are celebrating a birthday, a 40th, or a bachelor or bachelorette party.

It will suit you less if:

  • you want calm and quiet evenings, since music is part of the experience;
  • you are travelling with children: the hotel is for guests 18 and over.

In either case, your advisor will suggest another Los Cabos hotel that better matches your travel style.

Practical tips for Los Cabos

  • When to go: December to April, for dry weather and whales. Our guide on when to go south from Montreal compares the seasons.
  • Documents: a passport valid for the entire stay is enough for a tourist trip to Mexico, with no visa. Your airline may require longer validity.
  • Safety: Canada advises a high degree of caution for Mexico as a whole. Baja California Sur, where Los Cabos is located, has no stricter regional advisory. Check travel.gc.ca before you leave.
  • Money: the Mexican peso is the local currency, and US dollars are widely accepted.
  • Swimming: the Pacific is dangerous on several beaches in the area. Respect the flags and stick to beaches known to be safe, such as Médano.
  • Travel insurance: strongly recommended. Your advisor can offer you a policy.
